The 4 R’s – reduce, recycle, reuse and repair have become evermore important to today’s society and tomorrows climate. With this ethos in mind a Yorkshire company has set itself the goal of providing a range of solutions to assist worldwide laboratories in their quest to fulfil their environmental responsibilities.

Opti-Pharma UK began life providing laboratory solutions to many established organisations. However, company owner Keith O’Brien explained how “it became increasingly clear that a number of enquiries were coming from start-up companies who were doing great work but were forced to work within extremely tight budgets.” Opti-Pharma UK themselves started life with the help of the Princes Trust and were fully aware of the need for quality equipment at a more affordable price.

Meanwhile, following an increasing number of large laboratory refurbishments, engineers noticed the amount of nearly new equipment ending up ‘in the skip’ or in storage was becoming ‘ludicrous’ given the obvious need for these items elsewhere.

Over the last year Opti-Pharma UK have invested in a number of storage units and have built up an extensive range of laboratory extraction and clean air devices. Ranging from: Ducted and filtered fume cupboards, powder containment booths to barrier containment isolators.

With a longstanding background of laboratory project engineering, engineers are able to expertly remove units at a fraction of waste disposal costs. Then after fully refurbishing the units the team are able to reinstall the units at tremendous cost savings to all types of scientific organisations.
